Welcome to the ACC Cardio-Oncology Section!

The mission of this Section is to improve the cardiovascular health of patients with cancer and cancer survivors through education, training, research development and interdisciplinary collaboration. It is our goal to serve as a professional home for all American College of Cardiology members whose clinical and/or research interests lie in cardio-oncology.

This exciting new field spans broad areas of cardiovascular medicine, from basic mechanisms of cardiovascular toxicities, translation and risk stratification using cardiovascular imaging and biomarkers, to clinical strategies aimed at prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease in patients undergoing cancer treatments and cancer survivors. Rapidly growing market of novel and emerging cancer therapies and rising number of patients living with and surviving cancer, often in the setting of new or pre-existing cardiovascular disease and risk factors, have created a need for specialty cardiovascular care. Our newly formed Section aims to provide a broad platform for cardiovascular specialists to engage in and advance educational programming, training and clinical guidance in Cardio-Oncology. We welcome your suggestions and look forward to your participation in developing quality metrics, enhancing educational interactions and engaging fellows in training and early career members in new initiatives focused to advance patient care.

Collaboration is at the heart of this interdisciplinary field and it is our goal to create an open forum for interaction and synergy among cardiovascular health care providers, oncology health care professionals, and other stakeholders while encouraging broader and more systematic partnership between cardiology and oncology professional societies.

Please consider joining the Cardio-Oncology Section and become an active part of an exciting journey of field development!

I sincerely look forward to working with all you!
