The ACC continues to be recognized as an international leader in the fight to improve cardiovascular care worldwide through two new key appointments in global health. John Gordon Harold, MD, MACC, past president of the ACC, was named chair of the Partner’s Council of the World Heart Federation (WHF) for 2016 while Thomas Gaziano, MD, was elected for the same position for 2017. The Council is comprised of the leading member organizations that support the activities of WHF. They are charged with identifying strategies for WHF member organizations to leverage WHF advocacy tools in their global activities. In addition, ACC International Affairs Director Neal Kovach was elected to the NCD Alliance Steering Group which provides management, strategic leadership, and financial oversight to the NCD Alliance. These appointments offer important opportunities for the College to continue to play an active role in global health activities.
