ACC Working to Save Lives in China With VHD Screening and Training
The ACC, in partnership with the Edwards Foundation, recently conducted screening and training for valvular heart disease (VHD) in three cities in China, as part of the Every Heartbeat Matters initiative.
In Kunming, of nearly 80 individuals who were screened, eight were identified as having potential valvular issues that warranted follow-up with a specialist.
The program also focused on clinician training to enhance hospital capacity for long-term care of VHD and sustainably address the gap between China’s less-developed provinces and international gateways in the identification of VHD and positive outcomes.
