Kovacs, MD, FACC, president of the ACC, explain why diverse representation is vital for innovation and improving patient outcomes. They note that goals to reduce mortality due to cardiovascular diseases will only be met if they encompass all ethnicities, all cultures around the world, and all sexes. Moraes expands that is "necessary to seek better remuneration for women and appreciation of their role in society, in addition to providing them with more leadership positions in medical organizations."
