Big Data: When and How Will It Impact Interventional Cardiology?

In a recent expert analysis on ACC.org, James E. Tcheng, MD, FACC, et al., discuss the vision of big data and its relevance to health care. The authors note big data has the potential to optimize longitudinal care of the interventional patient; inform and improve interventional devices across the total product lifecycles; and reduce clinician burden through the intelligent collation and presentation of relevant information while reducing documentation overhead. They add that it will not be long before big data is actionable at individual patient level, which will enable clinicians to facilitate the right management of the right patient at the right time.
