JACC and The Lancet Align to Advance Cardiovascular Health

JACC and The Lancet are bringing together their resources, expertise and networks to disseminate high-quality research, foster interdisciplinary collaborations and advance cardiovascular health worldwide. Through close collaboration the two journals are uniting to enhance their joint impact on global health by publishing, disseminating and amplifying the highest quality research.

"The synergy between JACC's comprehensive focus on cardiovascular health and The Lancet's wide-reaching influence in general medicine creates a formidable alliance to advance health worldwide," said Harlan M. Krumholz, MD, SM, FACC, incoming JACC Editor-in-Chief. "United in our vision, we are set to amplify our joint impact, pushing the boundaries of what academic journals can achieve for patients and society."

Together, JACC and The Lancet will aim to enhance the strength, diversity and quality of research published in each journal to better serve authors and readers. The journals, both published by Elsevier, will support authors who seek publication in JACC and The Lancet with the option of a seamless manuscript transfer system.

In partnership with the research and clinical community, the journals will also spearhead Commissions on urgent health topics to advance clinical care and public policy and collaborate on expert commentary to explore further the issues impacting the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease worldwide and identify avenues for rapid progress.

"Through the partnership between JACC and The Lancet, we will be providing world-leading cardiologists with an unparalleled platform to advance and promote their research and drive improvements in clinical care, for the benefit of patients," said Richard Horton, MD, Editor-in-Chief at The Lancet.

Together, the journals are poised to transform the dissemination and application of groundbreaking research and practice-changing science through their respective channels. This initiative will bring heightened attention to applying evidence-based solutions for critical health issues and highlight each organization's dedication to enhancing health outcomes globally.

The Potential of Dyad Leadership

"In the context of cardiovascular care, where the stakes are high and interdisciplinary collaboration is paramount, dyad leadership provides a promising framework for enhanced decision-making, improved patient outcomes and organizational excellence," writes ACC President Cathleen Biga, MSN, FACC, in her latest Leadership Page published in JACC. This topic was also the focus of the first "Heart Talk With Cathie" presidential discussion that debuted live at MedAxiom's Spring CV Transforum in Atlanta in April.

Both the Leadership Page and presidential discussion delve into the multifaceted aspects of dyad leadership, including its potential to help foster innovation, effectively integrate technological advancements and digital solutions, inform decision-making, strengthen global collaboration, and promote collaborative, cross-disciplinary, continuous learning among health care professionals.

There is also a note of caution, recognizing that successful implementation will require clinicians, administrators, policymakers, educators and other stakeholders like the ACC to collectively embrace and champion this collaborative model and invest in comprehensive training programs that equip health care professionals with the skills and competencies needed to thrive within dyad structures. "The time is ripe for a paradigm shift in how we approach cardiovascular care delivery, and dyad leadership has the potential for synergizing success," says Biga.
