Call For Applications: Faculty Development Work Group Position (Due Feb. 20)

The ACC is accepting applications for the Faculty Development Work Group (FDWG), which reports to the Lifelong Learning Oversight Committee (LLOC). The FDWG's mission is to educate and develop ACC faculty and support education endeavors of the College. Furthering ACC's commitment to being member driven, leadership involvement in ACC's Faculty Development Work Group offers a unique opportunity to enhance your involvement in the College and drive concepts that are meaningful to you and connect with ACC's mission.

The position is a one (1) year term, starting in April 2022 and culminating in March 2023 with the option to reapply for an additional year. The 2022-2023 work group chair is Gillian Nesbitt, MD, FACC. Given the rapidly evolving virtual learning environment and the acute need for faculty education, next year the FDWG will focus on:

  1. Create educational activities that meet the needs of the live and virtual teaching and learning environment
  2. Evaluate emerging trends in virtual education and forward recommendations to the LLOC
  3. Provide recommendations on curriculum development for moderators and experienced faculty.

Qualifications

  • An ACC member in good standing
  • Broad understanding of the education design and development process and adult learning theory
  • Current experience with virtual education design and development
  • Current experience with faculty facilitation of virtual learning
  • Familiarity with ACC education and the role of needs-based education and Lifelong Learning Competencies
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of the field of cardiovascular medicine
  • Demonstrated experience in the digital space, including a thorough understanding of physician web use, mobile technology, and social media
  • A strategic thinker with energy, appetite, and creativity to help guide the future of ACC education particularly virtual learning
  • Ability to constructively engage with other members of the Faculty Development Work Group as well as ACC staff
  • Ability to meet the time commitment of the position which includes monthly 1-hour meetings, a yearly in-person meeting at ACC's Annual Scientific Sessions, as well as 1-3 hours per month of independent work.
