Form an International ACC Chapter

Why Start an ACC Chapter in Your Country?

Over the past 30 years, international ACC members and cardiovascular societies have shown strong interest in establishing ACC Chapters outside the U.S. To support this global engagement, the ACC now allows the formation of international chapters in collaboration with national cardiovascular societies. Creating a chapter in your country offers ACC Fellows new opportunities for leadership, networking, and collaboration.

Each chapter is led by a governor who joins the Assembly of International Governors (AIG), contributing to ACC's global mission by:

  • Shaping ACC's international agenda for 17,000+ members
  • Representing member needs and highlighting ACC's global value
  • Leading initiatives on key issues like digital health and STEMI benchmarking

Chapter Benefits

Country chapters help ACC better serve members by:

  • Providing a platform to discuss local cardiology issues
  • Offering leadership roles to F.A.C.C. members
  • Facilitating mentoring and networking among ACC-affiliated cardiologists

Additional benefits include:

  • Networking with other country chapters
  • Use of ACC name and logo
  • Hosting joint educational events
  • Access to local ACC member lists
  • Support with Fellow applications

How to Start an ACC Country Chapter

  1. Review the Guidelines
All chapter members must be ACC members. You must have 20 FACC's in country to form a chapter. Chapters must have support from all local cardiovascular societies. ACC can provide a list of current FACCs in your country.
  2. Hold an Organizational Meeting
    Discuss:
    • Chapter viability
    • Meeting logistics
    • Leadership structure
    • Required resources (Note: ACC does not provide financial support)
    • Commitment to ACC policies and legal compliance (Chapters must meet local legal requirements and have bylaws approved by ACC's Board of Trustees.)
  3. Host a "Chapter-in-Formation" Meeting
  4. Submit an Application Packet to international@acc.org.
    Include:
    • Names of potential members and leaders
    • Description of proposed chapter activities
    • Letter of intent from the national CV society confirming support and preferred collaboration structure
