FIT Jeopardy teams from Texas and Saudi Arabia took home the ACC.23/WCC FIT Jeopardy winning trophies on Sunday. Congratulations to all the teams representing ACC's domestic and international chapters who took part in the friendly competition throughout the meeting.

Today's Convocation ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. will close out ACC.23/WCC by celebrating the College's global partners, recognizing the incredible accomplishments of ACC members worldwide, and welcoming new Fellows and Associates to the ACC family. It will also mark the transition to the next ACC president.

Presided over by outgoing ACC President Edward T. A. Fry, MD, FACC, the annual event will usher nearly 200 new Fellows and Associates into the College and honor the mentors, educators and scientists who make up this year's Distinguished Award winners. The ACC's global cardiovascular society partners and recipients of the Hani Najm Global Scholar Award Observership Program will also be recognized, along with the 2023 Young Investigator Award winners, who will be announced live.

"Convocation is derived from the Latin word "convocare," meaning to call and to come together. Today we will call on all members of the College to come together to affirm our commitment to transform cardiovascular care and to improve heart health for all with inclusiveness, equity, integrity and collaboration," says Fry.

Following the formal reading and acceptance of the FACC and AACC oaths, the time-honored event will also mark the official installation of new ACC leaders, including the College's new president, B. Hadley Wilson, MD, FACC. Wilson, an interventional cardiologist and executive vice chair at Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute in North Carolina, has served the College in many roles, including chair of the Board of Governors and secretary of the Board of Trustees. He has also been co-chair of ACC Latin America, a senior advisor to the Global Heart Attack Treatment Initiative (GHATI) and served on the ACC Membership Committee and NCDR Oversight Committee.

"The president serves as a link from one generation of the College to the next, from the notable accomplishments of the past to the exciting prospects ahead," says Fry. "Convocation serves as the bridge for that transition from the past to the future. It is truly a privilege to pass the presidential chain this evening to Dr. Wilson."
