ACC Mission in Action | Spring BOT Highlights and What's Ahead
It's been a busy and productive Spring for the ACC – as reflected in the recent Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting. Updates on critical initiatives spanning Guidelines, Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, NCDR, Science and Quality, Advocacy, Global Strategy, and more, underscored the incredible scope and depth of the work aimed at advancing the College's Mission to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health for all.
Key Updates
- New Trustees – Renuka Jain, MD, FACC; Samuel O. Jones, MD, MPH, FACC; and Geoffrey A. Rose, MD, FACC – were welcomed to the Board. See the complete list of Officers and Trustees.
- Philanthropy was in focus, with the BOT reaffirming leadership development, health equity, global health and international research as strategic priorities. - Forward-looking discussions, including potential revenue growth pathways and how emerging challenges – political, technological and geopolitical – may impact our Mission-focused work were also integrated throughout the agenda. Some of these topics will carry over into the annual BOT retreat taking place this month, where leaders will dive deeper into discussions around member value, digital transformation and revenue opportunities.
- Guidelines visibility was another topic of discussion, with the Board receiving an update on efforts to enhance visibility through an increase in the number of documents produced including Concise Clinical Guidelines and Scientific Statements, as well as improvements to the digital infrastructure, search engine marketing, and themed JACC issues. Look for the first JACC special issue focused on the ACS Guideline on June 10. Access the College's complete library of clinical guidance at ACC.org/Guidelines.
- Global engagement was also in the spotlight. In May alone the ACC hosted its very successful ACC Asia conference in Singapore – where over 80 new members were welcomed to the College and more than 40 new FACCs from nine countries were recognized in a special Convocation ceremony. ACC leaders and staff also took part in World Heart Summit 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland, which convened global leaders to address solutions for cardiovascular health worldwide. Additionally, the latest cohort of emerging leaders were welcomed to Heart House for the two-day Wael Al Mahmeed Global Leadership Institute. The Global ACCeleration Task Force also presented its final recommendations, which the BOT approved. With its work concluded, the Task Force has officially sunset. Sincere thanks to all members for their invaluable contributions to shaping our global strategy.

BOT meetings are always an opportunity to reflect on the unwavering commitment of ACC members to improving patient care and outcomes. The College is stronger because of its members coming together around shared goals, best practices and a vision for a healthier future. Whether through Sections, local Chapters, leadership, advocacy or shared learning, this involvement fuels innovation, connection and change.
Stay engaged, lend your voice and help shape the future of cardiology. Together, we are transforming cardiovascular care – one patient, one idea and one action at a time.
