Digital health technologies (DHTs) – from remote patient monitoring and virtual care to AI-powered data analysis – hold significant promise for enhancing the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. But what will it take to move these innovations from concept to clinic?

This month's cover story explores the current barriers to widespread adoption of DHTs and outlines practical strategies to overcome them. As Nivee Amin, MD, MHS, FACC; Ashley N. Beecy, MD, FACC; and Ami B. Bhatt, MD, FACC, explain, success will require rigorous evidence generation, seamless clinical integration and a focus on equitable access.

In another feature, we turn to a timely – and often overlooked – topic: the cardiovascular implications of Alpha-Gal Syndrome. As tick season ramps up, clinicians should be aware of this tick-borne allergic condition, which can trigger red meat allergies and sensitivity to certain cardiovascular medications, products and devices. Don't miss the handy reference table of cautionary medical products in this setting.

Also in this issue, Focus on EP offers a "Top 5" list of disruptive advancements in electrophysiology straight from Heart Rhythm 2025, while Focus on Intervention highlights major takeaways from EuroPCR and SCAI 2025 – both driving innovation in coronary and structural heart disease.

We also take a deeper look at:

  • Evolving compensation models in cardiovascular imaging, helping clinicians keep pace in this rapidly growing field.
  • One physician's powerful reflection on inclusion and how their athletic experience shaped their view of equitable cardiovascular care.
  • Insights and tips for addressing cardiovascular health disparities in immigrant communities.

Additionally, Allison E. Gaffey, PhD, et al., offer their thoughts on the ACC's and MedAxiom's new framework for cardiovascular care delivery and implementation and the importance of incorporating behavioral and psychosocial health into this approach.

As usual, JACC in a Flash and Journal Wrap round out this issue by distilling the latest in cardiovascular science, while Heart of Health Policy provides updates on ACC's efforts to advance research, access and workforce priorities through policy and advocacy.

Enjoy this issue – and the summer ahead! As always, we welcome your thoughts at CardiologyEditor@acc.org.
