Celebrating 20 Years of Connection, Collaboration and Community

Twenty years ago, the ACC took a bold step in redefining what it means to build a professional home for cardiovascular clinicians – introducing its first Member Sections focused on Women in Cardiology and Adult Congenital and Pediatric. Today, there are 23 thriving Sections, each designed to bring together like-minded professionals across specialties, interests and career stages from every corner of the globe.

Over the last two decades, these Sections have become vital communities and powerful engines of professional growth and peer support, united not only by clinical or career focus but by shared purpose. Whether it's mentoring the next generation of cardiovascular leaders, researchers and clinicians, championing patient access and health equity, or advocating for policy change, each Section cultivates a space for connection and leadership. They serve as incubators for innovation and collaboration, helping members shape education, advance clinical guidance, and create impactful resources for both patients and clinicians. Importantly, ACC's Member Sections also serve as meaningful forums for new and emerging fields within cardiology and for elevating the collective strength of cardiovascular care. From Heart Failure to Geriatric Cardiology, Sports Cardiology to Reproductive Health and Cardio-Obstetrics, each Section plays a role in moving the field forward.

As we mark the 20th anniversary, this milestone is a tribute to the power of community and the shared commitment to excellence. ACC Member Sections are – and always have been – essential pillars of the ACC's Professional Home. They remind us that together, we are not only stronger, but better able to achieve our Vision of a world where science, knowledge and innovation optimize cardiovascular care and outcomes. Learn more about each of the Sections, as well as our two Member Communities for Medical Residents and Medical Students, in the following profiles and at ACC.org/Membership.
