The ACC Board of Trustees (BOT) has approved the College's newest officers and trustees who will assume their roles in March 2026 following ACC.26 in New Orleans, LA. These new officers include:
"Through the nominating process, the ACC is intentional in identifying leaders who reflect the entire cardiovascular care team and bring critical competencies and unique perspectives to the roles of president, vice president and trustee," said Nominating Committee Chair and ACC Immediate Past President Cathleen Biga, MSN, MACC. "Next year's incoming new leaders bring a powerful blend of organizational insight, business acumen and strategic leadership that will be vital in advancing ACC's role as the professional home for cardiology and ensuring progress on our strategic efforts to transform cardiovascular care worldwide."

Meet the Next U.S. Vice Chair For ACC Latin America
Mario J. Garcia, MD, FACC, will serve as the next U.S. vice chair for ACC Latin America, beginning in 2026. He will transition to U.S. co-chair for 2028 and 2029. The New York-based cardiologist is chief of the Division of Cardiology at Montefiore Medical Center and professor of medicine and radiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, with a career focus on advancing cardiovascular imaging and education.
Garcia completed his doctorate in medicine at the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña and his postgraduate training at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital and Cleveland Clinic. He is an active member of the ACC, where he has served on the organizing committee for ACC Latin America 2024 and as faculty for numerous ACC Annual Scientific Sessions and Latin America congresses. Garcia is dedicated to mentorship of fellows in the region and in this role will continue to expand the session's opportunities and impact.
