STS/ACC TVT Registry Analysis: TEER in Patients With Severe MR and Cardiogenic Shock

Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) was successful in reducing mitral regurgitation (MR) and lowering risk of mortality and heart failure hospitalizations in patients with cardiogenic shock (CS) and severe MR, based on an analysis from the STS/ACC TVT Registry presented at TCT 2022 and published in JACC.

RESCUE Study: PM-CDT With Bashir Catheter Holds Promise For Treating Acute PE

Pharmacomechanical catheter-directed thrombolysis (PM-CDT) with the Bashir catheter was associated with a significant reduction in the right ventricular/left ventricular (RV/LV) diameter ratio and relief of pulmonary artery (PA) obstruction in patients with intermediate risk of acute pulmonary embolism (PE), according to results of the RESCUE study presented during TCT 2022 and simultaneously published in JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions.

CLASP IID: PASCAL System vs. MitraClip For Severe DMR

In the first randomized controlled study to evaluate transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) outcomes, the PASCAL system demonstrated noninferiority in safety and effectiveness when compared with the MitraClip system. The results from the CLASP IID trial, presented as part of TCT 2022 and simultaneously published in JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, shows promise in terms of expanding transcatheter treatment options for patients with severe symptomatic degenerative mitral regurgitation (DMR).

PADN-CFDA: Pulmonary Artery Denervation Shows Promise For Treating PAH

Treatment with pulmonary artery denervation (PADN) plus a phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor (PDE-5i) was safe in patients with stable pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), based on findings from the PADN-CFDA study presented at TCT 2022 and published in JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions. Researchers also noted improved exercise capacity at six months compared with patients receiving PDE-5i treatment alone.

Cumulative Systolic BP Provides Better Prediction of CVD Events in Patients With T2D

Cumulative standard measure of systolic blood pressure (BP) load may provide better predictions of major cardiovascular events for patients with type 2 diabetes than traditional BP measurements, according to a study published in JACC.
