The Importance of Mentorship and Sponsorship: Tips For FITs and Early Career Cardiologists

As one's career progresses, mentoring and sponsoring junior colleagues may become an essential part of this selfless tradition and remain a collective responsibility for all, according to a "Voice of Cardiology" viewpoint published Aug. 21 in JACC: Case Reports.

Garima Sharma, MBBS, FACC, et al., describe their personal approaches to mentorship and sponsorship, and discuss a few practical suggestions to secure long-lasting relationships. They note that the mentor-mentee relationship is a true gift, as mentors help shape professional careers with their wisdom and perspective.
