The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) has released an expert consensus statement updating the SCAI SHOCK classification. The document was endorsed by the ACC, American College of Emergency Physicians, American Heart Association, European Society of Cardiology, Association for Acute Cardiovascular Care, Society of Critical Care Medicine, International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

CANVAS Substudy Explores Biomarkers on CV and Kidney Outcomes

Canagliflozin may delay longitudinal rise in high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) and suppression of tumorigenesis-2 (sST2) vs. placebo through six years. In addition, cardiovascular biomarkers alone and in combination may predict subsequent clinical outcomes, independent of and incremental to common clinical parameters, according to a post hoc biomarker substudy of the CANVAS trial published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
