Chapter Outreach Initiative
In response to a groundswell of interest from ACC members the Geriatric Cardiology Section successfully acquired a grant from the Research Retirement Foundation, to promote and disseminate the online curriculum through the ACC Chapters – to leverage the original curriculum in order to train the approximately 38,000 ACC Chapter members in the United States in geriatric care standards. This initiative targets the nine (9) states where over half (51%) of persons 65+ live: California (3.5 million); Florida (3.3 million); Illinois (1.6 million); Michigan (1.4 million); New York (1.4 million); Ohio (1.6 million); Pennsylvania (2.0 million); Texas (2.6 million); West Virginia (17.3% of the population or 297,000); and Wisconsin (770,000). |
