Is Gestational Diabetes Associated With Increased Risk of CVD in Midlife?
Women with no history of gestational diabetes may have a "graded increase" in the risk of coronary artery calcification (CAC) in midlife that is associated with worsening glucose intolerance, while women with a history of gestational diabetes may have twice as great a risk of experiencing CAC in midlife across all levels of glucose intolerance, according to a study published in Circulation.

A consensus document from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) provides guidance on the diagnostic approach and management of cardiovascular health of women during menopause and after pregnancy disorders or other gynecologic conditions, based on current evidence and practice. Published in the European Heart Journal, the document was organized by an ESC Task Force on Gender and a multidisciplinary working group on women's health in menopause.
NCDR Study Shows Increased Use of Intravascular Microaxial LVADs, Corresponding Decreased Use of IABPs
Use of intravascular microaxial left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) increased between 2015 and 2017, corresponding with decreased use of intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABPs), in patients undergoing PCI for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock, according to a study published in JAMA Network Open.
