The ACC and JACC hosted two dynamic side events in New York in September tied to the fourth High-level United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting – all with the aim of enhancing the global dialogue on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).

The first, organized with the NCD Alliance and World Heart Federation and supported by Viatris, explored the critical link between financing, workforce capacity and NCD Care. Featuring keynote speaker Tom Frieden, MD, MPH, CEO of Resolve to Save Lives, and panels on new cardiovascular workforce data and global community health worker experiences, the event underscored the need for multi-sector collaboration and policy innovation to advance sustainable, equitable care for people with NCDs worldwide.

The second, co-hosted by JACC, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, featured new data from the latest Global Burden of Disease report and highlighted the urgent need for collective action to reduce NCD impact.

Together, both events reinforced the ACC's leadership in shaping global health policy and collaboration, with the goal of creating a world where science, knowledge and innovation optimize patient care and outcomes. Read more about both events.
